The Special Section this year is 'Endangered Species'
The Hyacinth Macaw is classified as endangered due to excessive trapping by the Kayapo Indians of Gorotire in southern Brazil for feathers and for the worldwide exotic caged bird trade.
The Phillipine Eagle, the national bird of the Phillipines is seriously endangered now with less than 250 left in the world. The bird is only found in four islands of the Phillipines and has a life expectancy of 30-60 years.
